In the same year, she was hired as an intern in An American Place restaurant for one year. Guarnaschelli began her culinary education by watching her mother modify cookbooks and try recipes. The first time she was exposed to cooking, she watched her mother test recipes at home as she edited cookbooks. Guarnaschelli was named executive chef of Butter. Guarnaschelli participated in Food Network's Iron Chef America in 2007. She fought Cat Cora at the Farmers Market Battle of 2007 and won. Guarnaschelli has since been an Iron Chef America judge and, in 2011, competed on The Next Iron Chef season four where she was the third place finisher. In addition, she competed in The Food Network Challenge Ultimate Thanksgiving Feast episode and lost the contest. She was elevated to sous-chef to Iron chef Geoffrey Zakarian following the 4th season of The Next Iron Chef. She hosted The Food Network program The Cooking Loft together alongside Alex Guarnaschelli. In this program, she taught a bunch of small students on how to create new dishes from scratch.
